It is official, The American Tin Cannery will be replaced by a Super Eco Friendly hotel. 160 Rooms, conference center, and retail. It is going to be amazing! We don't really know how long we have... the Coastal Commission will probably drive that train.... but in the mean time its business as usual in the the mall. There are many locally owned businesses that will be displaced here... come by and support Kai Lee Creamery, First Awakenings, China House, Archies, The Sock Shop, Artisans of Monterey, Clothing Optional boutique, Dorotas Alterations, Sages Salon, Evolution Wellness and Marina Patina... Plus the outlets that employ your neighbors and friends, Bass, Van Huesen, Pendelton, DB Shoes, Candy world, and more!

Art is Coming!
We have a new Mall leasing agent, Jen. She is busting a move!!!! We have a large artist Co op joining the ATC Family in July! They will be taking a 3000 Sq Ft space on the mezzanine level. I am super excited about this. I have also been trying something a little crazy, I have invited some of my maker and artist friends to come out on Saturdays and do trunk shows. My goal is to fill up the mezzanine with art! This may be the boost this place needs... maybe this is what its going to turn into, Art and local crafts, services, and well, 3 gyms and 4 outlets.
Stay tuned!

Clothing Optional Boutique
Clothing Optional is a very cool boutique AND tanning salon located just across from First Awakenings Restaurant. They carry the cutest tops and dresses and have wonderful prices!!
Owner Kellee and daughter Hailee run the shop and their eye for fashion is fantastic! The boutique is small and the stock is constantly changing. They buy in small batches and nothing is on the rack for long.
here is a link to their facebook page... the best way to see whats new each week!
Hailee is in charge of the spray tanning and resident model!!!
She puts together great outfits from the shop and shares them on facebook each week!

Introductions Kai Lee Creamery
Kai Lee Creamery. Owner Butch is there every day making the best organic ice cream in the world!!! He makes it fresh right there in his store and has something delish to offer daily. His flavors change with seasonal produce offerings and you can always look forward to something awesome!
My personal favorites: Coffee, Lemon Cream, Chocolate and Coconut.
Butch is also an artist and sculptor, his paintings adorn the walls and you can some times find him sculpting his amazing creatures or working in his sketch book.

Day One
Hi, My name is Kirsten McGrath and I own this little store in the American Tin Cannery in Pacific Grove CA. The ATC sits on the border of Monterey and Pacific Grove and is one block away from the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
So why does it look like this....not a soul in sight! This is a photo I took on a sunny Friday afternoon around 4:00. This blog is dedicated to the life inside this mall... there are 13 vibrant locally owned businesses here plus 5 manufacturers outlets. We are struggling but not giving up, the business owners here have tremendous drive and work their butts off daily to create a great product for the customers that venture in.
